What Ancient Dungeon VR is

Ancient Dungeon VR is a roguelite dungeon crawler made for VR. You go down into procedurally generated dungeons where the layout, monsters and loot change on every run. Combat is physics-based: you swing a sword with your real hand, block, throw things, and dodge. You can also cut down plants if you feel like it. Rooms are full of traps, secrets and monsters, and there are over 70 unique enemies and 11 bosses to work through. Loot comes in the form of Relics, with more than 150 of them, and they stack into different builds — a glass cannon, a tanky swordsman, or something cursed. Movement is flexible: walk, teleport, or swing through the air like a monkey.

Playing it with your group

Online co-op supports up to 4 players, with cross-play between Quest native and, soon, PSVR2. You team up to take down dungeon bosses, share the loot you find, and revive each other when someone goes down. The store text also notes you can let a friend get caught while you grab the loot, so how cooperative you are is up to you. Since every run generates a new dungeon, a group can keep coming back and get a different layout, different monsters and different rewards each time.

What to know before starting

This is Early Access, so it is still being worked on and gets regular updates. Expect gore as part of the combat. Progress carries over between runs through a permanent progression system: Bestiary entries, Item Compendiums and Lore Entries track your monster kills, stats and trophies, and you unlock new weapons, floors, relics, upgrades and a hard mode over time. Mods are supported. The game is VR-only, so everyone in the group needs a compatible headset before you start.
