A first-person brawl with voxel enemies
Paint the Town Red is a first-person melee combat game where you punch, bash, kick, stab and slice voxel-based enemies using almost anything that isn't nailed down. The action takes place across different locations and time periods, from a Biker Bar and a Disco to a Prison, Pirate Cove and a Western Saloon, each with its own enemies and weapons. Enemies are completely destructible, so fights are messy and physical rather than tidy.
Playing together in online co-op
Online co-op covers almost every mode in the game, so you can bring friends along for the Scenario levels, the Arena challenges, Endless survival and the Beneath campaign. Scenarios ask you to use your wits, speed and whatever you can grab in bar fights, disco brawls and saloon rumbles. Beneath is a rogue-lite descent underground where you battle monsters, unlock powerful upgrades and take on bosses. Arena throws multiple challenges at you, and Endless tests how long you can survive.
What to know before starting
Beneath lets you pick from a variety of classes with unique stats and abilities, and you upgrade them as you go. The game includes a Level Editor with Steam Workshop support, plus custom music and character textures, so there are thousands of user-created levels alongside the built-in content. A sandbox level is there for testing features, weapons and mechanics. Full controller support is included for players who prefer a controller over a keyboard. All planned features have been added; current work focuses on bug fixes, performance, polish and extra community-inspired content for the Level Editor and Scenario modifiers.
