What UNDERDOGS is

UNDERDOGS puts you inside 5 tons of metal and drops you into underground mech fights. You ramp through hordes of enemy bots and mechs with physics-based, metal-on-metal violence, including car-sized pit bots that want you dead while crowds roar. The setting is New Brakka, described as the Mech Fighting Capital of the World, a city run by gangsters and psychos. It plays as a rogue-like with more than 130 items, weapons and power tools, so each run is a chance to assemble a deliberately overpowered killing machine and break the game with it. Alongside the fights, you deal with more than 40 NPCs: hiring hackers and saboteurs, getting into street fights, stealing, and selling people out. Your little bruv King watches your back and calls things out, and the whole push is for a chance to get him into the city and save his life.

Playing it together

Multiplayer comes as a free DLC, so you can bring your group in and fight alongside each other rather than only against the AI. The Steam features list Online PvP, which means the competitive side of the mech fighting is available over the network. Round up your friends, take your mechs in, and go smashing. The singleplayer side is listed too, so anyone who prefers to run the rogue-like alone can do that as well.

Before you start

Expect gore and violent content, with tags including Gore and Violent, so the fights are graphic rather than clean. It is tagged as VR, First-Person and 3D Fighter as well as Action Roguelike, so the combat is close, physical and built around the mech body you are wearing. Character Customization is on hand for shaping your machine. The soundtrack is called out as a feature, and the tone of the whole thing is loud, crude and street-level rather than polished. Go in ready to smash, deal, and climb through a city that does not play fair.
