What No More Rainbows is
You play the Beast, Warden of the Underworld, woken from an eternal slumber by cheerful melodies and the smell of tulip perfume. The magma floors now feel soft under your claws, and beings of infinite happiness led by Bizou have moved in to turn your sanctuary of screams into a paradise of kisses and rainbows. The campaign runs across 5 unique worlds with more than 30 levels, including the Molten Shores with its volcanic terrain and beach fronts, and it is stuffed with mini-games, secrets, environmental storytelling and boss encounters against your nemesis. It is a VR first-person platformer built around hand-based locomotion: you run, jump, claw and climb using only your hands, which is how the whole game is controlled.
Playing it together
Online PvP is where a group meets up. Deathmatch Mode is the straightforward brutal option, while Chicken Catch is the mode where you platform your way to victory. Both run across 17 maps. After a round you can collect cosmetics and spend them on your beast, with over 1,000,000 possible combinations, so each of you can end up looking completely different on the same map.
Before you start
This is a VR game with hand-driven movement, so expect a fair amount of physical swinging, grabbing and climbing rather than button-heavy controls. Precision platforming is a tag on the store page, so some sections will demand accurate jumps and grips. The tone mixes cartoonish, funny worlds with violent content and a side of psychological horror in the setting. Singleplayer is a big part of the package too: the full campaign, plus local and worldwide speedrun leaderboards for every level if you want to chase a faster time once you have the movement down.
