What Vibrant Venture is
Vibrant Venture is a 2D adventure platformer built around four playable characters: Cardinal, Azura, Banana and Pistachio. An intergalactic thief has stolen the arcane Power Crystals, and the four of them work together as one being to get them back. Each character carries their own set of abilities, and the core of the game is swapping between them mid-run so their moves chain together. Cardinal double jumps, Azura dashes, Banana climbs walls, Pistachio glides. Put those in the right order and a wide pit or a tall wall stops being a hard stop. The levels are colorful and hand-drawn in pixel art, spread across 3 distinct worlds, with boss fights against larger-than-life creatures along the way. Controls are responsive and there is real room for skillful mastery once the moveset clicks.
Playing it together
The Steam features for this game list Online Co-op, so you can bring friends in rather than running it alone. The character-swapping design is what makes a group session interesting: one player's ability sets up the next, so movement through a level becomes a shared problem instead of four separate runs. Expect the terrain to demand coordination — a double jump into a dash, a wall climb into a glide — and expect the boss fights to be hectic when more than one person is in the mix. The store text describes the game as singleplayer in its short description, so check how the co-op session is set up before you all commit to an evening.
Before you start
Vibrant Venture is in Early Access. The developer describes it as a nearly complete gameplay experience, and says some elements may change as development continues based on feedback and refinement. It is tagged as difficult, so the platforming will push back; Assist Mode options are included if you or your group want to tune the challenge down. There is also a Level Builder for making your own stages and sharing them through the Steam Workshop, with user-generated levels available to download, plus a Pet Maker for creating pets that follow you around in levels. Expect a deep moveset to learn before it feels fluid, and give yourselves time to get comfortable with swapping characters under pressure.
