What Landfall Archives is
Landfall Archives is a collection of 23 projects Landfall and friends have worked on since 2016 that never made it to the shelves. The premise is breaking into the archives to steal and play previously unreleased games, demos, interactive slide shows, and an unreleased version of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator from 2017. The projects span a wide range of styles: modular robot fights in Robots Forever and Robots Forever 2, airship building and flying in Airships 1 and Airships 2, package-moving building in Post Game, top-down resource gathering in Physics Survival, card-driven real-time strategy in RTS card game, fist-and-knife room brawls in Physics Fighter, missile flying in Missile Game, and a peaceful flight dropping bushes in Plant Plane. TABS 2017 is an early version of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator using the 2.0 physics system that was scrapped in 2017 in favor of the current 3.0 version, with a variety of units to beat levels or a sandbox mode to play around in. Physics Presentation is not exactly a game but an interactive slideshow explaining the principles of the physics used in Landfall's games.
Playing together
Several projects are built for groups. Wrecktangels is local PVP: a simple side-view battle where you jump and shoot each other while using a time-slow mechanic, with a world made of objects that collapse and break apart as they are hit. Auction Brawl is 2-4 local splitscreen, a fighting game where you bid on items you then use to brawl against the other bidders, and you can grab and use most other items in the auction room to fight your fellow players. Medieval America is online PVP, a physics shooter where you battle your enemy on a destructible level that collapses as the battle goes on. Playful is online PVP, a 1v1 game where you can battle and play in different scenarios with your own rules and goals, made as a sandbox to create your own small games in. ROUNDS 3D is online PVP, a prototype for a 3-dimensional version of ROUNDS focused on shooting mechanics and a handful of upgrades. Counts and Stakes is online PVP, a vampires vs vampire hunters top-down shooter focusing on precise aiming, played in small arenas with physics obstacles you can interact with. Remote Play Together is supported.
Before you start
These are prototypes and unreleased projects, so scope varies a lot from one to the next. Some are short single-player experiences: Anything for my pals has you control a herd of Pals to navigate a short level with obstacles, Blob Game locks you in a room with an unknown creature while a voice speaks to you and has a few different endings, Creepy Robots has you run and climb around a small town while being chased by humanoid robots, and Plant Plane is a peaceful journey along the level. Others are building or management experiments: Walking House Game is a prototype where you control and build a walking castle, travel to gather resources, and build and upgrade your base while enemies lurk nearby. Physics Fighter pits you against enemies with different attacks and patterns in small rooms. Missile Game has you fly missiles through levels with varying obstacles to bring down physics towers. Physics Survival is a physics animated top-down game where you explore, interact with the environment and animals, and gather resources for equipment and units.
