A physics sandbox for tabletop games
Tabletop Simulator gives you a table with no built-in rules. You pick up, rotate, shake and throw objects, and the physics handle collisions the way you would expect. The base game already includes Backgammon, Cards, Chess, Checkers, Chinese Checkers, Custom Board, Dice, Dominoes, Go, Jigsaw Puzzles, Mahjong, Pachisi, Piecepack, Poker, Reversi, RPG Kit, Sandbox, Solitaire and Tablet. Beyond that, thousands of community creations sit on the Steam Workshop, so the table can become almost anything your group wants to play.
Playing together at the table
Up to 10 people can sit at the same table, with a team system plus voice and text chat to keep the table organized. Online co-op and online PvP both work, and Remote Play Together lets someone join from a friend's machine. Hotseat covers local play on one computer. If someone wants to run the session, Game Masters get tools to control the table, and admin tools can turn player permissions on or off to stop griefing in public games. VR players on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift share the room with non-VR players in the same session.
Making your own games and RPG nights
Import images onto custom boards and tables, build custom decks, bring in 3D models, and write Lua scripts to automate what happens on the table. Creations can go to the Steam Workshop or stay private with your group. For RPGs, the RPG Kit supplies modular tilesets, furniture and animated figurines, plus Multiple States and a Tablet that works well for character sheets. Hinges and joints let you build moving parts, and 360 degree panoramic backgrounds change the lighting and atmosphere. You can also save and load individual objects or whole games, browse the internet, listen to music and watch videos together on the in-game tablet. When DLC is involved, only the host needs to own it for everyone at the table to play.
