What Treason is

Treason is a party shooter for 3 to 16 players set among Italian mobsters, built around teamwork and betrayal. Each round starts with the Don's body appearing on the map. The first player to find it triggers Clues spawning across the arena, and those Clues are the key to everything. Innocents gather Clues and deliver them to the Clue Processing Unit; feed it enough Clues and it reveals a Traitor. Traitors work against the Innocents, the Detective, and the Doctor, trying to wipe out every Innocent before their side gets exposed. Innocents win by identifying and eliminating the Traitors, so suspicion and argument matter as much as aim.

Playing together in a group

The game leans hard on proximity voice chat, which is where the deduction happens. You hear who is nearby, who is accusing whom, and who is quietly slipping away while everyone argues. Classes give each player a distinct job in a fight: Slim is quick but fragile with 80 HP and a speed boost, Medium is the balanced pick with 100 HP and a self-heal for 25 HP, and Heavy sits at 110 HP with a shield that cuts incoming damage by 30%. Each class also carries a damage bonus tied to specific ammo types, so loadout choice shapes how you engage.

Roles split the group further. The Detective scans bodies to confirm deaths publicly and can identify a killer or a bomb planter from a corpse. The Doctor revives unconscious players and can drop a Health Station so teammates restore HP nearby. Traitors have a toolkit of gadgets: Radar to reveal player locations, Bombs for explosive traps, a Silenced Pistol for quiet kills, a Spiked Bat for lethal melee, Disguise to hide identity, Bear Traps to immobilize, Poison Darts to slow a target, and Revival to bring a dead player back. Zombie Traitors support the Traitor side with bombs and radar, while the Zombie Don backs the Innocents with heals, shields, and a speed boost. Group voice, quick role checks, and coordinated pushes are how a match actually plays out.

Before you start

Learn the Clue Processing Unit, since it drives the round. Once the Don's body is found, Clues spawn and players race to collect and deliver them, but Traitors can sabotage the unit by cutting its power supply, so guarding it is part of the Innocent game plan. Bodies are worth scanning: the Detective's Scanner names a killer or a bomb planter, and bodies can also confirm whether a death was real. Watch for suspicious behavior rather than only gunfights — a player lingering near the C.P.U., someone who never appears on radar, or a kill that nobody saw can matter more than raw damage. Classes and abilities vary per role, so check what your class actually gives you before committing to a push, and remember that positioning and proximity voice decide most rounds.
