Fighting Through Miami's Demon Invasion
Kingdom of Night is an isometric action-RPG set in the small town of Miami, Arizona, in 1987. A satanic cult accidentally summons an ancient evil named Baphomet, throwing the town into chaos. You take control of John, whose neighbor has been kidnapped, and set out into the night to fight the demonic invasion and rescue your friends. The game plays out as an hour-by-hour experience of what could be everyone's last night on Earth. Along the way, you will encounter unearthly evils, demon lords, afflicted townsfolk, and high school bullies, all wrapped in a blend of coming-of-age drama, cosmic horror, and true love.
Playing Together With a Friend
You do not have to face the forces of darkness alone. The campaign can be played through as John alone, or with a friend in local co-op. Teaming up lets you synergize different character classes to take down the town's demons. The game also supports Remote Play Together, which lets a friend join in over the internet as if you were sitting on the same couch.
Choosing Your Class and Building Your Character
There are 5 classes to choose from: Barbarian, Knight, Rogue, Necromancer, and Sorcerer. Each class plays differently and sets your base style, while skill trees let you customize further. Skill trees are split into three branches with 10 talents each. As you level up, you spend points into any of the three branches of your class. Once you hit level 10 in your first branch, you can cross over into another branch to fully shape your play style.
Exploring the Town and Hunting for Gear
The town map is expansive and interconnected, with open-ended quests that let you explore freely while unraveling the main story. You can interact with a wide cast of NPCs and take on the Demon Generals in any order you want. Gear comes from quest rewards, hidden items around the town, and random drops from a multi-tiered loot system with variable drop rates. Items range from common to completely unique, and the equipment you collect adds another layer to your character's stats with special abilities that make you more powerful. Your goal is to infiltrate the massive lairs of the Demon lords that have taken over the town and loosen Baphomet's grip on Miami.
