What It Steals is
It Steals is a first-person survival horror game built around stealthy, unpredictable monsters that live inside a maze. Each game mode introduces a new evil with its own abilities, so the rules change as you move from one mode to the next. The game deliberately keeps information back: you get the tools you need to survive, but you have to work out how they actually behave. Expect to infer, improvise, and figure things out through failure. Dying teaches you something, and each run gets you closer to a win.
The tone is retro and atmospheric, with pixel graphics and a psychological edge. It is a difficult, arcade-style experience with permanent death, so a mistake can end a run quickly. The tagline says it plainly: around every corner. The monsters are always inside the maze with you, watching for the habits you fall into and punishing you for what you assume.
How a group plays it together
The Steam features list Remote Play Together, which lets friends join in through that feature. Beyond that, the store text does not lay out co-op modes or player counts, so check in-game before planning a full group session. What works well for a Discord group is the shared learning curve: everyone will die to the same tricks at first, then start trading notes on what each monster does, what the tools actually do, and which habits get you killed. Watching someone else get caught by something they swore was safe is half the fun.
Before you start
Go in expecting to lose repeatedly. Permadeath and difficult, stealth-focused enemies mean runs end fast, and the game will not explain itself fully. Treat each death as information rather than a setback, and pay attention to what the monster was reacting to rather than just where it came from. Each mode is a separate escalation with a new evil and new abilities, so what worked in one mode may not carry over. Play by their rules, or suffer their quick wrath.
