A bento puzzle box

inbento is a pattern-matching puzzle game where you fill a lunch box to match a target picture. Each puzzle gives you a limited set of ingredients and the finished recipe to recreate. You rotate the pieces, move them around and insert them in the right order until the box matches the image. The game runs through over 120 recipes, and new mechanics show up as you go along: swapping, removing and copying ingredients. There is no cooking knowledge needed, and the tutorial is textless, so the relaxed pace carries you through the rules.

Playing together

inbento lists Remote Play Together as a Steam feature, which lets friends join in over a connection. The core loop stays the same for everyone at the table: look at the target, work out which piece goes where, and take turns placing food. The puzzles are short and self-contained, so a group can pass the box around between recipes and compare how they solved each one.

Story and tone

Finishing each chapter unlocks interactive illustrations about a cat family, covering parenthood and growing up. The presentation is hand-drawn, minimalist and 2D with a top-down view, and the whole thing sits at a calm pace. Expect a linear run through the recipes rather than a sandbox, with the difficulty coming from the ingredient rules rather than from timers or pressure.
