A two-person submarine mystery

How 2 Escape: Lost Submarine is a co-op puzzle game where you and a partner try to reach a lost submarine and stop a war from starting. The allied military base has been captured, and the government ordered a torpedo launch before cancelling it. The submarine carrying that torpedo, "The Triumphant," is out of communication range, so nobody knows if the cancellation arrived. You play as Haurée and Leroy, two strategic experts sent to find the submarine and deliver the latest information before time runs out. Underwater, the torpedo decision has already caused a moral dilemma among the sailors.

Two roles, two devices

This is built for exactly two players, and each of you has a different job. Player one explores the inside of the submarine, moving through the environment and interacting with what is there. The second player uses a separate device to gather additional information that the first player cannot see. Neither of you can solve the puzzles alone, so you need to talk constantly and compare what you each have. The puzzles rely on logic, coordination, observation, and communication. The game plays across two devices, and only one copy of the game is needed: the second player uses the free Companion App on a smartphone or PC.

What to expect going in

The puzzles get harder as you go, so expect the early sections to ease you into how the two roles fit together before the demands ramp up. Controls are simple, and the game follows a linear path rather than an open structure, which keeps the focus on the puzzles and the conversation between you. It works as an online co-op experience across two devices, so you can play with a friend who is not in the same room. Set up the Companion App before you start so you are not sorting out the second device once the clock is already running.
