A luchador adventure through the Mexiverse
Guacamelee! 2 brings luchador Juan Aguacate out of retirement for a new Metroidvania-style adventure. You explore a huge, hand-crafted world inspired by Mexican culture and folklore, packed with sassy new villains, weirdos, and a few old friends. Combat and platforming are tightly linked: you learn a deep repertoire of bone-crunching moves to fend off the skeletal hordes and clear platforming challenges. New abilities like Eagle Boost and Pollo Shot add to Juan's arsenal, and his chicken form gets new powers for ridiculous chicken-based platforming, combat, and exploration. The journey takes you through the worlds of the living and the dead, across rifts in time and space.
Playing together as a group
The story supports drop-in / drop-out 4-player local co-op from start to finish. Friends can join the session and leave whenever they need to, without restarting the adventure. You fight side by side against twice as many enemy types as the first game and take on a roster of eccentric new bosses together. Remote Play Together is available, so the group can join in even when everyone is not in the same room. Expect a shared fight through dense levels where everyone's moves matter.
What to know before starting
This is a Metroidvania, so the world opens up as you collect new moves and chicken powers; some areas will need abilities you have not learned yet. Difficulty is listed as a tag, so the platforming and combat will push back. Trainers are scattered around the world, and beating their challenges is how you upgrade your abilities, so seeking them out pays off. The soundtrack features new music from the composers of the original Guacamelee! OST plus tracks from special guests Mariachi Entertainment System.
