Shrunk down in the backyard
Grounded puts you in a backyard at the size of an ant. Everything you know as small — grass, pebbles, a soda can — becomes terrain, cover, or an obstacle to climb. The store text describes the world as vast, beautiful and dangerous, and the danger comes from the hordes of giant insects that share the yard with you. You play in third person, so you can see your character and the scale of the world around them, which matters when a beetle is the size of a bus from where you stand.
Playing it with friends
Grounded supports single-player and multiplayer, including online co-op, so your group can load into the same backyard and work through it together. Co-op survival games like this reward splitting jobs: one person scouts ahead, another gathers materials, someone else keeps an eye on what is creeping up behind the group. Full controller support means everyone can play on a pad without fighting over settings, and Steam Cloud carries your save along with you. Remote Play on Tablet and Family Sharing are also listed, so there are options for joining in without everyone owning a copy on the same kind of device.
Survival, crafting, and what to expect
The tags point to what the loop actually is: survival, crafting, open world, and action. You gather resources, build and craft with them, and fight when the insects decide you are in the way. Some of those insects are described as perils rather than scenery, so expect encounters where running is a valid plan. The horror tag is worth taking seriously — the size difference and the way the yard closes in around you is meant to feel tense, not cozy.
Grounded also receives updates. The store text highlights the "Fully Yoked" 1.4 update as the upcoming addition of new content to the game. Check the announcement post for the details of what it contains before you and your group plan a session around it.
