A mining sandbox under the earth

Core Keeper drops you into a vast cavern full of creatures, relics and resources, and the ancient Core at the center of it all is the mystery you are here to unravel. You mine, build, fight, craft and farm your way through a world that keeps changing as you dig. The cavern is split into distinct biomes, from the living walls of the Clay Caves to the crystal caverns of the Shimmering Frontier, with a Desert of Beginnings and a Sunken Sea to cross as well. Along the way you meet the Cavelings, find the remnants of ancient civilizations, and dig up the lore that explains what this place once was.

Playing together

Core Keeper is built for 1-8 players in drop-in/drop-out online co-op, so friends can join a session and leave without derailing anything. A group splits the work naturally: some dig for resources, some build and expand the base, some farm and fish, and some push into the deeper biomes to fight. Everyone levels their own skills and spends talent points, so each player can lean into the role they enjoy. You can also host your own dedicated server if you want a persistent world your group returns to.

What to know before starting

Combat is a real part of the loop, not an afterthought. You fight monsters and mini-bosses on the way to the Titans, which are the large set-piece battles that hold the secrets of the world and power up the Core. Expect to upgrade weapons and armor as you go, and to spend time on preparation before a big fight. Outside of combat there is plenty to do at the base: build with a wide range of materials, automate mining, smelting and storage, raise animals, grow a garden, fish, trade with merchants, and play instruments. The world is procedurally generated, so no two groups will carve out the same underground.
