A shared wilderness that keeps pushing back

Don't Starve Together is the standalone multiplayer version of Don't Starve, set in a strange world called The Constant. It's a procedurally generated place full of odd creatures, hidden dangers and ancient secrets, spread across biomes with plenty of resources to gather. You land in it with nothing and have to work out how to survive: pick up materials, craft tools and structures that suit how you want to play, and keep exploring until you've unravelled some of the world's mysteries. The tone is unforgiving, so hunger, darkness and things that lurk in the dark are all part of the loop.

Playing it as a group

The game is built around a group sharing one world. You can run a private game with friends or look for other players online, and then split the work: some of you go exploring, some farm, some build. Plowing fields and tending crops keeps everyone fed for whatever comes next, and building shelters and walls protects both the players and everything you've hauled back to base. Going off solo is a valid option too — the game lets you strike out on your own instead of sticking with the group. Caves, the Ancient Archive below them and the Lunar islands reachable by boat mean there's plenty of ground to divide between you.

Threats you'll face together

Survival isn't only about food. Seasonal bosses turn up on schedule, shadow creatures creep out when things get dark, and wandering menaces plus assorted flora and fauna are all ready to turn you into a ghost. Death isn't the end in the usual sense, but being a spooky ghost is a state your friends will have to deal with while they keep the camp running. Coordination matters: someone on food, someone on defence, someone pushing further into the unknown.

Before you start

There's adjustable difficulty if the group wants a gentler or harsher run, and the game supports single-player as well as co-op, so nobody's locked out if the rest of the crew is offline. Controller support is full, and there are keyboard-only and mouse-only options alongside adjustable text size, colour alternatives and custom volume controls. It's playable without timed input, and saves can be made anytime. Steam Workshop and Steam Trading Cards are supported, and the game can be shared through Family Sharing.
