A real-time strategy game set in Baltic mythology

Godsworn is a classic RTS built around divine heroes, worshippers and mythical creatures. The story is a fantasy retelling of the Baltic Crusades: pagan gods and their tribes clash against crusaders and armies of heaven. You pick a divine hero and play to their strengths. Saule, the goddess of the sun, protects her followers and burns enemies with sunlight. Meness, the moon god, strikes from darkness. Michael, the archangel, fights for the Order and smites the heathens. Each hero comes with their own abilities, and they unlock unique units, buildings and upgrades on top of what their faction already gives them, so two heroes on the same faction play noticeably differently.

Playing it with friends

The campaign is fully voiced and can be run alone or in co-op. It was designed with co-op in mind: which character you choose changes the interactions you get, and sometimes gives you a completely different gameplay role than your partner. Beyond the campaign there are skirmish and challenge maps, plus online PvP if your group would rather fight each other than the AI. Glyphs you find while exploring maps carry over into skirmish and challenge play, so the secrets you dig up actually change how your hero and faction play later.

Economy, base building and faith

Followers flock to your shrine, gather resources and build cities so you can raise armies. While they pray they generate faith, the resource you spend on mythical creatures and god powers. The economy is deliberately simple to pick up: workers respond automatically to tasks issued globally, and they go back to generating faith when they have nothing to do. That means less time fiddling with individual workers and more time protecting the ones praying.

Before you start

Godsworn is in Early Access, so expect the game to still be changing. The campaign is the main focus, with single-player and co-op both supported, and skirmish, challenge and PvP modes available alongside it. Take time to read what each Divine Hero brings, since the hero choice shapes your units, buildings and upgrades more than your faction does.
