What Fraymakers is
Fraymakers is a platform fighter built around customization. You pick a character from a roster of indie gaming icons and fight across stages with attacks, movement and techniques you'd expect from the genre, plus some new ones. Each character has a full moveset with over 80 animations, so nothing is cut down to a small set of moves. The game is in Early Access, which means it's still being developed and expanded. It's designed to be friendly to new players while staying expressive and demanding for experienced ones, whether you want a quick round or a longer session.
Playing together
Up to 4 players can duke it out in a match. Local multiplayer is supported, and each additional player needs a gamepad; keyboard can be used for one player slot. Online play is also available, including online co-op and online PvP, and the game uses rollback netcode that was prioritized from the start of development for a smooth online experience. Remote Play Together is supported as well, so friends can join over the internet. During a fight you can call on assists drawn from a large selection of indie characters — they can launch an attack, fire a projectile, buff your character, or apply a special status effect to your opponents, which adds a layer of team-building to every match.
Custom content and things to know
The main draw beyond the stock roster is the custom content editor. You can create your own characters, stages and modes, or play content made by others, and the editor is meant to be both accessible and powerful so creating things stays simple. The game is tagged as moddable, so the toolset extends beyond what ships in the box. Before you start, note that it's Early Access, so expect ongoing changes, and that local multiplayer requires a gamepad per extra player. Controller support is listed among the features, so having pads ready is the practical way to get a full 4-player session going.
