What A Few Quick Matches is
A Few Quick Matches is a small, fast platform fighter for one to four players, built around old-school stick fights. The look is pixel art with flashy animations and hard-hitting moments, in the spirit of the stick fight videos that used to dominate the internet. Matches are short and easy to get into, so you can jump straight in without learning a long list of systems first.
How the fighting actually works
The main thing to know is the hit-cancel mechanic. Most successful hits can be cancelled into an air dash, which means your follow-up routes are nearly endless. That gives you room to build long chains of attacks and keeps the momentum going once you land a clean hit. You do not need to master this to enjoy the game — plain, direct fighting works fine — but if you dig into the combo system, there is a lot of depth to push through, and landing a well-executed chain feels genuinely good.
Playing together
You can fight your friends locally with up to four players on one setup, or take the fight online. Online play uses rollback netcode, so battles across the internet stay smooth and responsive. You can host a lobby to challenge people you know, or use quickplay to get matched with anyone in your region. Remote Play Together is also available, which lets friends join in over the internet as if they were sitting next to you.
Before you start
A controller is the natural fit for this kind of fast, close-quarters fighting. Expect short rounds that reward aggression and quick reactions rather than slow, deliberate play. If your group wants something casual, the easy-to-play side of the game is there from the first match; if someone wants to go deep, the combo system gives them a lot to work on. Either way, the matches stay short, so it is easy to run a set and swap players around.
