A kitchen where the knife is the real hazard

Don't cut your hand puts you behind the counter of a ridiculous restaurant as a chef whose job is to cut food one piece at a time. The catch is your left hand, which sits right there on the board and is very easy to take off with your own knife. The whole thing runs on two buttons, so the controls never get in the way — the difficulty comes from timing and from what the game throws onto your table. Expect odd objects turning up mid-shift, including a UFO, and expect to develop a genuine grudge against berries. It's an arcade-style casual game in 2D, and surviving 30 seconds is a real milestone for a beginner.

Playing together

Two players can share the screen in local co-op, working the same kitchen side by side. That means one shared danger: the knife in your friend's hand is just as likely to take off your hand as the food's. Online play lets you face a random opponent from the internet instead, so a group can compare who lasts longest without losing a limb. Remote Play Together is supported, which gives your group another way to join in from different machines.

Before you start

Pick from 2 characters at the beginning, with 13 more that can be unlocked as you go. Workshop mods are available to download, and you can build your own mod to customize chefs, so the roster can look quite different from a friend's copy. The controls are simple enough to explain in one sentence, but the run itself is unforgiving — treat the first few attempts as practice and keep an eye on where your hand is before you swing.
