A punk wasteland RPG
Death Trash is an open-world, singleplayer role-playing game set on the planet Nexus, where humans once settled and then fled into enclosed habitats after unearthing ancient secrets of stone and flesh. Now the wasteland belongs to outcasts, machines, and offsprings of the worm. You play one of those outcasts, pushed outside with a dangerous burden to carry, and your path takes you through deserts, ruins, the underground, and beyond. The game mixes old-school role-playing depth with modern controls and game feel: real-time ranged and melee combat, stealth, multiple choice dialogue, an inventory of items and worms, a crafting system, and skills like pickpocketing and puking. You create your own character through stats and in-game decisions, then explore handcrafted, hand-painted locations, meet characters like the Fleshkraken, visit the Puke Bar, and descend into old temples.
Playing together in local co-op
The main feature is the immersive single-player campaign, but the game also contains a local co-op mode covering the full campaign. The second player can drop in and drop out anytime, and each player has their own character, stats, and inventory while sharing quest progress. Both players are restricted to the same location, and traveling on the world map happens together. Each player can perform actions separately, including dialogue, without interrupting the other. The game offers a shared screen mode by default and a permanent split screen mode. Steam Remote Play Together will be possible.
Freedom and things to know before starting
Death Trash gives you extensive player freedom: manual save games, dialogue that can be left anytime, and the choice to kill everyone or not kill anyone at all. Choices matter throughout, and you can fight machines and larger-than-life monsters or become their friend. The game is in Early Access, so content and systems may change as development continues. There is no online co-op mode planned due to limited development resources, though this will be evaluated in the future.
