A Sci-Fi Roguelike in the Blackouts

Deadzoned is a traditional turn-based action roguelike set on the planet Celestious in the year 29XX. After a nanite plague decimated the star colonies, survivors scavenge subterranean zones for supplies and lost tech while battling the bandits, beasts, and monsters that stalk the blackouts. You venture ever-deeper into the Deadzones, blasting through critters, outlaws, cultists, and terrifying monsters. Every playthrough is a procedurally-generated nightmare with unique layouts and random events, so no two runs are the same.

Playing Together

While the main campaign is a singleplayer experience, you can use Remote Play Together to share your screen with a friend so they can join in on the action. Beyond that, the game includes Clashful Cards, a strategic collectable card game you can play against the AI or a local friend when you need a cosy break from the blasting. The Steam leaderboards let you and your friends compete for first place, with separate boards for every game mode and class.

Classes, Modes, and Difficulty

You can choose from multiple character classes, including Bounty Hunters, Psychics, Technomaniacs, and the humble Deprived Wretch. Each class levels up differently with its own Talents and stat preferences, so you can customise your build as you earn XP from killing enemies. The game offers multiple modes that let you pick how deep the journey goes, each with its own length, difficulty, and pools of gear, enemies, and end bosses. Zones also contain optional random events you can face or avoid for extra loot and bigger scores, such as dealing with a camp of Cannibals or entering the domain of a Boneraiser. You may also find optional entrances into more dangerous but rewarding areas like Forbidden or Plagued Deadzones. There are no item weight limits, so grab every weapon you find and blast your way through, but keep an eye on your ammo. Mouse and keyboard is the recommended setup, though you can also play on a gamepad or keyboard alone.
