A Bullet Heaven Roadtrip Through the Zombie Apocalypse

Deadly Days: Roadtrip is a top-down action roguelike set in a 2.5D pixel-art world overrun by zombies. You are on a bus trip through this apocalypse, and each run gives you a new, procedurally-generated course to navigate. The core gameplay is a "bullet heaven" style where you face overwhelming hordes of the undead while firing ridiculous amounts of projectiles back at them. Your goal is to push further into the escalating chaos, scavenge for loot, and decide when it is time to extract from a stop. Every stop you make is a life-or-death decision that brings you closer to the final boss or to finding that one legendary item combination that can melt the undead.

Managing Your Backpack and Crafting Loot

A major part of the game is inventory management. Space in your backpack is limited, and every weapon and item you find takes up specific blocks. You need to puzzle these items into your limited space just right so their adjacency effects stack, powering up your weapons for maximum destruction. Beyond just fitting things in, you can recombine and craft your items into more powerful versions or discover unknown legendary new ones. Each level-up you gain comes with a free airdrop that might contain exactly what you need to improve your build. As you play, you will also find and rescue over 10 eccentric survivors at your base. Each of these characters brings their own unique talents and weaponry, allowing for a completely different journey each time you start a new run with a new survivor.

What to Know Before Starting

This game is currently in Early Access, so you can expect it to be a work in progress. It is tagged as a singleplayer experience, but it does support Remote Play Together, which allows a friend to join your session. The gameplay loop involves making choices on a procedurally-generated map, managing a tight inventory, and surviving intense, projectile-heavy combat encounters. Whether you choose to build a lightning-fast character who dashes between zombies or craft gear into serious firepower, the run is defined by the loot you find and how you arrange it.
