What Deadly Hunter VR is

Deadly Hunter VR is a first-person defense game built for VR. You play a renowned Orc hunter whose homeland was invaded; the main invasion was beaten back, but small bands of Orcs still hold parts of your strongholds. Your job is to clear them out and liberate each stronghold. The game runs over four hours of content across more than 20 scenes, with regular levels plus Elite and Endless Challenges once your skills are sharpened.

Combat is physical and close. Orcs come at you with axes and spears, so you move your body to dodge, find an opening, and finish them off. There are more than 10 enemy types, including Berserker, DarkSpear, Shieldon, SmokeLord and Ladybug, and each one behaves differently enough that you learn their patterns as you go.

Traps are the core of your toolkit

Traps are the hunter's main tool. You unlock 10 unique ones, among them the steel trap, the venom swamp and the archer tower. Every Orc has a specific weakness, so the fun is matching the right trap to the right enemy rather than spamming one option. When a trap isn't hitting hard enough, you upgrade it — there are over 100 trap upgrade combinations to experiment with, which gives the loadout side of the game real depth.

Clearing a stage puts you into the global rankings, so there's a reason to replay stages and squeeze better results out of your trap setup.

Playing with friends

The Steam feature list for Deadly Hunter VR includes Online Co-op, so you can group up with friends rather than hunting alone. Note that the store text describes Escort Mode and Multiplayer Mode as content that is coming, so check what's actually available in the build you install before you plan a session around a specific mode.

Before you start

This one is VR only — there's no flat-screen version, so everyone playing needs a headset that works with it. Expect a game that rewards reading the enemy: watch what each Orc type does, pick the trap that exploits its weakness, and use your own movement to stay alive. Start on the regular levels to learn the roster, then move into Elite and Endless when the basics feel comfortable.
