What HordeZ is

HordeZ is a VR rail shooter in the spirit of Doom and House of the Dead. You are locked to a moving path through a dark world while waves of zombies and demons come at you, and your job is to stay alive, clear each level and cause as much carnage as you can. It plays like an arcade shooting gallery rather than a survival simulator: aiming and speed are what count, and every shot and headshot comes from your own hands and reflexes. The game runs on room-scale VR and standing mode.

There are 8 levels with different scenes and enemy setups, 6 enemy types with their own behavior and threat levels, and 5 difficulty levels ranging from beginner up to true hardcore. Your results go on global leaderboards, so each run is a chance to climb higher.

Playing together

You can invite a friend to co-op and fight off the hordes together in VR. The Steam features also list Online Co-op, Online PvP and Remote Play Together, so there are ways to bring other people into the chaos. The tag list includes Local Co-Op and Multiplayer alongside PvE.

Before you start

You need a VR setup, since aiming and reflexes are the whole game. Pick a difficulty that matches your group — beginner if you want a relaxed round, hardcore if you want a real test. Loadouts cover 5 weapon types: katana, pistols, machine guns, grenades and more, so you can switch between melee, rapid fire and explosives as the waves change. The game is also available for arcades on SpringboardVR.
