A VR dungeon crawl with a cursed knight at its center

Karnage Chronicles is a first-person action RPG built for VR. You play as a Murkwraith, an undying knight kept out of Death's domain and bound to servitude for sins committed long ago. The story begins as the planets close in on an alignment that will tear a rift in the cosmos, and it carries you through dark dungeons packed with monsters, traps, puzzles and treasure. Combat is melee-focused and skill-based: swing velocity decides how much damage you deal, so a lazy wave of the sword does nothing. You can parry with your weapon, raise a shield to block, and use room-scale movement to step aside from arrows and magic. There are no random hit chances on either side, so what lands is down to your own aim and timing.

Playing it with your group

The game supports 1-4 players, and monster strength and spawn counts scale automatically as people join or leave. Drop-in and drop-out is fully supported, so you can start a run alone and let friends or randoms arrive mid-session, changing party size on the fly. Everyone picks a role as archer or warrior, and weapon presets let you swap gear quickly in the middle of a fight, with quick slots for potions and food. Loot is shared territory: coins, mined metals, junk to sell and gear to wear all feed into shops that open up as you progress. Each character has a Private Stash that carries over between your own characters and stays reachable even when you join someone else's session.

What to know before you start

Set up your locomotion preference in the in-game settings before you dive in, since the game offers several options and comfort matters over a long dungeon run. Dungeon state is saved when you leave, including quitting the game, so you return to the same dungeon exactly as you left it. Multiplayer works across hardware but not across storefronts: players on the Oculus Store cannot join Steam sessions, so a friend with an Oculus copy needs to run the game through Steam to play with you.
