What Trickster VR is about
Trickster VR: Co-op Dungeon Crawler is a fantasy action game built for virtual reality, made by Superstatic. You fight your way through procedurally generated levels set among floating islands, burning skies and five regions to explore. The core of it is archery and melee skill: you hunt weakpoints, land headshots and take on orcish chieftains rather than grinding through long health bars. Each orc comes with its own set of moves and abilities, so you have to read what they are doing and dodge out of the way before you can punish them. There are 45 levels with a steady difficulty curve, 22 weapons with unique powers to unlock, and 9 different mission types to keep runs from feeling the same.
Playing it together as a group
The game supports 4 player co-op online, so your group can take on the orcs side by side. Two game modes give you different ways to spend a session. Adventure Mode drops you into the procedurally generated levels with quests to complete, which suits a group that wants a run with a shape to it. Wave Attack is the defensive option: you hold the portal to your home world against the orcish horde, which works well when everyone wants a straightforward survival session. Three difficulty levels let you match the challenge to whoever is least experienced that night, and the procedural level system means the group sees different places each time rather than memorising one layout.
Before you start
This is a VR title, so everyone in the group needs a VR setup to play. Accuracy and positioning matter more than raw damage output, so expect a learning curve while you get used to aiming and to the specific tells each orc type has. The difficulty curve across the 45 levels is designed to build steadily, so starting on the lower difficulty is a reasonable way to learn the enemy movesets before pushing up. Weapon powers unlock as you go, which gives the group a reason to keep returning to levels you have already cleared.
