Race, build, race again
Cube Racer is a round based multiplayer racing game with cubes. Every round, all players race against each other to the finish line. Before every round, the players get to build one or more obstacles on the map. In the next round, all players have to pass all the obstacles, which have been built yet. You score points by finishing well, and the player with the most points at the end wins. There are 25 standard maps plus endless user created maps, and 300 different obstacles to work with. The game also has a singleplayer mode where you race on different maps with various predefined obstacles to set the fastest times you can.
How a group plays it together
The game is designed as a multiplayer game where you race against your friends or other players to finish as fast as possible and score as many points as you can. Everyone races on the same map with the same obstacles each round, so no one gets an advantage from winning the previous round. Between rounds, every player can build obstacles, boosters, or potentially deadly objects at the end of the map. That means the track keeps growing and changing: it can get harder, easier, or just more interesting depending on what your group puts down. You can outsmart opponents with the obstacles you place as much as with your racing. The game supports Online PvP and Remote Play Together, and there is a dedicated server you can set up for local or online play with your group.
Before you start
Obstacles are unlocked with credits earned from playing in singleplayer or multiplayer, and credits can also upgrade obstacles you already own to make them bigger or stronger. At the start of a game, each player picks which obstacles to bring in, so every match plays out differently. Controller support is available for in-game racing. There is also a map editor for making your own maps, which you can play on your own server or upload to the Steam Workshop to share, and you can download and play maps made by other players.
