What Chicken Invaders Universe is
Chicken Invaders Universe is a top-down shoot 'em up where you fight invading intergalactic chickens out to get revenge on humanity. You start as a new recruit in the United Hero Force (UHF), deployed to an out-of-the-way star system, and work your way up through UHF ranks toward a place in Heroes Academy. The structure around the shooting is big: over 1,000 star systems to explore and more than 20,000 missions to fly, drawn from 15 mission types. Between runs you buy, sell and upgrade equipment, and customize your spacecraft. There are 15 weapons, each upgradeable to 11 levels with a secret 12th, plus 30 bonuses and 40 medals to collect. Boss fights are gigantic, and a single screen can carry over 200 chickens at once.
Playing with your group
The game supports online co-op, and you can fly missions together with friends — up to 99 players. Squadrons let you group up with fellow UHF recruits, so your group has a shared home inside the game rather than just dropping into a mission and leaving. Alongside the co-op side there's a competitive layer: challenge missions are delivered to your inbox daily, and comprehensive leaderboards and rankings track where you and your squad stand against everyone else. Community competitions are part of the loop too, so a group can split its time between clearing missions together and chasing positions on the boards.
Before you start
The game is free to play, with arcade, old-school 2D presentation, a cartoonish look and an original orchestral soundtrack. It leans into parody and comedy while staying family friendly, so the tone is light even when the screen is packed with enemies. The shoot 'em up core is the draw: fast, reflex-heavy, and demanding on your fingers once the waves pile up. Expect a long progression arc rather than a quick finish — the sheer number of star systems, missions, weapon levels and medals means the UHF career is built to run a while, and daily challenge missions keep pulling you back.
