Ten arcade fighters in one package
Capcom Fighting Collection brings together ten of Capcom's arcade titles from the 1990's. The list covers Street Fighter and Darkstalkers in several entries: Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge, Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire, Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers' Revenge, Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire, and Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition. Alongside those sit Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, Red Earth — here in its first home console port — plus two non-traditional picks, the versus puzzler Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and the fighter-with-puzzle-elements Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix. Most titles let you choose the Japanese or English version; Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2 are Japanese only.
Playing together
Every title in the collection supports online play, so your group can meet in a lobby for casual sets or sit back and spectate matches. There are ranked matches with global leaderboards if someone in the group wants to climb. Online play runs on rollback netcode, which is there to keep matches stable and smooth. Steam lists Remote Play Together, and local multiplayer is tagged, so two people at one setup can play without leaving the house.
Starting out as newcomers
If the group has players who never touched these arcade games, the collection includes training mode and a one-button special move control option to take some of the execution pressure off. Save and load any time, so a rough round can be redone with a quick load. Titles like Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo also give people who prefer puzzles an on-ramp that does not demand traditional fighting game skills.
The Museum
Beyond playing, the Museum archive holds more than 500 illustrations and development materials across the ten titles, including concept art that has not been shown publicly and behind-the-scenes material about how the games were made. You can also listen to over 400 music tracks recorded from the arcade versions. It is a decent wind-down for the group after the matches are done.
