A war on two fronts
Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 4 opens with North Korea launching a full-scale invasion of the Korean Peninsula, a conflict that threatens to destabilize the world. Two threads run through it. A young squad of South Korean soldiers, including Private Park facing live combat for the first time, fights to survive on collapsing front lines. Half a world away, Captain Price runs an off-book mission outside the system he once served, staying ahead of the people hunting him. When his mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone's control.
The campaign moves across a lot of ground: trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters combat in New York, chases through Paris, SAS night raids in Mumbai, and city-wide assaults to reclaim occupied territory. Expect a first-person shooter with a story-heavy, cinematic campaign that pushes the series into darker territory, bringing long-running storylines to a breaking point.
Playing it with your group
Multiplayer is where your group lines up together. It's built around grounded, precise combat with fluid movement and player choice, and it mixes tight close-quarters fights with open battlefield engagements. Large-scale maps return, combining vehicle and infantry combat across locations shaped by the campaign's global conflict. Fights stay fast, tactical and competitive, so a squad that talks to each other and picks roles will do better than a group of lone wolves.
DMZ is the other shared mode. You deploy solo or with a squad into a volatile conflict zone as an off-the-books asset recovering advanced military technology left behind by the war. It's an extraction experience: loot, fight, negotiate, betray, and get out with what you can carry. Every deployment forces hard choices about which objectives to chase, what to secure, and when to leave. Going in with a plan as a group matters more than raw aim here.
Before you start
The game covers Online Co-op and Online PvP, so the group modes run over the network rather than on one screen. Gun customization is a core part of the loadout side of things, and the tags point to tactical, modern military combat with artificial intelligence opponents in play.
There's a Vault Edition that bundles extra content: the Hostile Alliance Operator Pack with four operator skins (Price, Valeria, Ghost, Blix), the Special Forces Operator Pack with four skins representing the United Kingdom, Germany, France and South Korea with local-language voice packs, a Signature Weapon Collection of five weapons, a BlackCell season with a Battle Pass, tier skips and CP, plus DMZ deployment bonus content including the Hunter Killer operator skin, the Gilded Pearl camo pack and the Inner Circuit weapon blueprint. None of that changes how the game plays, so pick it up only if the cosmetics appeal to you.
