A '90s-Style Shooter in 2090
BRUTAL JOHN 2 is a first-person shooter built in the style of the classics from the 1990s, taking cues from games like Duke Nukem, Serious Sam, Doom, and Half-Life. The action is fast, the graphics are retro-inspired, and the violence is pushed to the extreme with a detailed dismemberment system where every shot tears enemies apart. The story is set in the year 2090, where a crypto-mining mutant named Luzilian controls the global economy and holds humanity's fate in his grip. Your job is to fight back, destroy the mining technology, and take control of the world back.
Playing Together
This game is tagged as a singleplayer experience, so you play through the levels on your own. However, the Steam feature Remote Play Together is supported, which lets a friend join your session over the internet. One person owns the game and starts a session, and the other joins in to watch or help out, similar to sharing a couch co-op game online. This is the only way to share the experience with your group, as there is no built-in multiplayer mode or co-op campaign listed.
What to Expect Before Starting
You can choose to play as either Brutal John or his companion Brutal Dog, and each character has their own unique storyline levels to complete. The game features a variety of locations to explore, including sci-fi space stations, cities, a wild west setting, caverns, a casino, and crypto-mining factories. Along the way, you will face off against giant brain machines and alien overlords in boss battles, and you can hunt for secrets and hidden Easter eggs. Be aware that the game is in Early Access, meaning it is still in development and may change over time. The content is also marked as violent and gory, so keep that in mind before jumping in.
