What Brotato is

Brotato is a top-down arena shooter roguelite where you play a potato holding up to 6 weapons at once, fighting off waves of aliens on a hostile planet. A spaceship from Potato World crashed and Brotato is the sole survivor, waiting to be rescued. Runs are fast, under 30 minutes, and each wave lasts between 20 and 90 seconds. Weapons auto-fire by default, with a manual aiming option if you prefer it. Between waves you collect materials, gain experience, and spend at the shop on items and weapons, from flamethrowers and SMGs to rocket launchers, sticks and stones. Dozens of characters are available to customize your runs, with traits like one-handed, crazy, lucky, or mage.

Playing together

Local Co-Op supports up to 4 players, so you and your friends can share the arena and take on the alien hordes as a team. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, letting others join in over a connection. Each player builds their own loadout from the shared pool of items and weapons, so you can split roles across the group and cover each other while the waves come in.

Before you start

The game leans on roguelike structure: every run is different depending on which characters, traits, and items you pick up, and you will die and retry as you learn what builds work. Difficulty can be tuned through accessibility options that adjust enemy health, damage, and speed, so the group can set a level that fits. Controller support is listed, and the tag set includes both casual and bullet hell styles, meaning runs can swing from relaxed to intense depending on your build and the wave.
