Drumming for fitness in VR
BoomBox is a VR rhythm game where you hit notes to the beat. The note placements are built around circular positions inspired by the Wacca arcade, plus free wall placements and shapes, so you end up squatting, reaching, and moving your arms and core. It plays like a full-body workout wrapped in a rhythm game. The game ships with 33 core songs, and there are 600+ DMCA-free songs available for community mapping. You can also unlock achievements, change your look with skins, and play across 20 unique environments.
Playing together
Multiplayer is listed as a Steam feature, so your group can join sessions online. Community maps download straight from the game menu, which means everyone can grab the same custom level without extra tools. The level editor is available as a separate download, so one person in your group can build a map and the rest can play it.
Before you start
You will need VR hardware, since this is a VR game. The editor is not bundled with the main game; it comes as a separate download. Pupa, the virtual cat, hangs around during play, and petting her is there for a break between songs. Leaderboards are included if your group wants to compare scores.
