Drumming without the noise
Paradiddle is a VR drum kit that responds to where and how hard you hit each drum. You get the feel of a real kit without the volume, so you can practice at home without driving the neighbours crazy. Ten beginner lessons walk newcomers through the basics, and the instruments sound realistic enough to work as a practice tool for experienced players too. The kit is yours to build: drag and drop drums from the palette, pick from a library of 50+ percussion instruments including xylophone, glockenspiel, bongos, tambourines and timpanis, then save the setup and load it whenever you want.
Playing together
The multiplayer feature lets you perform for your friends in freeplay, or compete for the high score on the built-in songs. Rhythm game mode has 30 songs with adjustable difficulty, so a group with mixed skill levels can still find a song that works for everyone. Cross-platform leaderboards are there for anyone who wants to chase a score after the session ends.
Before you start
Paradiddle is in Early Access, so features may still change. It needs a VR setup to play. Each drum can be tuned for pitch and max volume, and there are four environments to choose from: Dojo, Jazz Club, Galaxy and Void. You can load your own songs, audio files and sheet music, and record what you play to share with the community. For anyone with hardware on hand, MIDI input and output are supported, USB pedals can trigger the kick drum or control the hi-hat, and ASIO output is available if you want to dig into audio settings.
