Climb while the world falls apart

Avalanche 2: Super Avalanche is an arcade platformer where you play as a bouncy marshmallow climbing a stack of falling blocks while lava rises from below. The controls are simple, but the run gets busy fast: enemies, crushing blocks, lava, dragons and space chickens all push you upward. Along the way you buy power-ups from shops that fall with the terrain, pick up missions, bank coins and spend them on upgrades that change how a run plays out. There are badges and costumes to unlock, and the power-up pool is large enough that builds stack up into a huge number of combinations. Colorful bosses show up along the climb, and the whole thing runs at a quick, arcade pace with pixel graphics and a soundtrack built to keep the tempo up.

Playing together

The co-op mode is the reason to get a group on this one. Everyone jumps into the same run and tries to climb together, which means you are dodging the same lava and the same falling blocks while other players bump around you. It gets chaotic in the good way: a friend can shove you into a gap, or you can both scramble for the same shop. Missions and challenges give the group something to chase beyond just surviving, and badges, costumes and upgrades carry over so everyone can build their own loadout. Remote Play Together is supported, so people who do not own the game can join the session through Steam.

Before you start

Expect a game that is easy to pick up and hard to master. Simple controls mean you will be moving within seconds, but the difficulty comes from reading the falling terrain and the rising lava rather than from complicated inputs. Runs are quick and arcade-style, so a bad attempt costs you only a minute or two before you are back in. The upgrade system rewards banking coins across runs instead of spending everything immediately, so early attempts are mostly about learning the climb and figuring out which power-ups suit how you play. Whether you are playing solo or with friends, the loop is the same: get higher, stay ahead of the lava, and spend what you banked on the next attempt.
