A fast, messy trip down an ant hill

Ants Took My Eyeball is a 2D action platformer roguelite where you descend into an ant hill that changes every run and try to get your stolen eyeball back. Combat runs at a quick pace: you shoot and swing your way through hordes of insects and other creatures using guns, melee weapons, gadgets and trinkets. Movement is half the fight — running, jumping and dashing keeps you out of trouble and lets you pick better angles on enemies. The ant hill is split into diverse biomes, each with its own enemies, traps and loot, so one run rarely looks like the last.

Playing it with your group

You can go in alone or with up to three friends, for one to four players in local co-op. Everyone can pick their own input: full controller support, or keyboard and mouse. Steam Remote Play is supported as well, so friends who are not on the same couch can still join the run. A twin-stick style of aiming and platforming sits underneath all of it, which means close calls and scrambled fights are pretty normal when four people are dashing around a screen full of insects.

Loot, upgrades and what persists

Looting is the main loop. You pick up new melee weapons, guns, gadgets and trinkets as you go, scrap what you do not want for gold and components, and upgrade weapons into stronger variants. Hoarding trinkets is a valid strategy when the enemies ahead get tougher, and bosses stand between you and your eyeball.

Runs end for good when you die, but gems carry over. Spend them between runs on your base, where furniture gives future runs a small head start. There are also other permanent unlocks to be found deeper inside the ant hill. The game is tagged as difficult, so expect a few rough runs before things click.
