What Zombie Party is
Zombie Party is a 2D twin-stick shooter with Action-RPG and roguelike structure. You fight through procedurally generated dungeons and caves, pick up gold, loot, potions, items and melee weapons, and spend what you find on upgrades and unlocks. Runs are built around guns: there are 150+ unique guns to discover, plus a modular weapon builder that lets you modify and combine parts into your own creations. Alongside guns you get magic runes from a procedural magic system with elements, animal AI companions that fight with you, and RPG leveling with permanent stat progression, so failed runs still leave you stronger.
The game offers two ways to play: a time traveling adventure mode where you move through time and different dimensions, and dungeon delving through 10+ unique biomes, each with its own enemies and bosses. Boss fights are meant to be demanding, and the final zone holds the Dance King. There are 50 characters to unlock, each with a special weapon, plus hats, pets and other content to work toward. A glossary menu records everything you have encountered, and a profile system tracks your stats, global gold, unlocks and custom load-outs.
Playing it together
Multiplayer is a core part of the game, and it supports local co-op as well as Steam Remote Play Together, which lets friends join over a connection even if they do not have the game. Everyone fights side by side against hordes of enemies and bosses, and the friendly fire is part of the fun — the game explicitly lets you blow up your friends with heat-seeking missiles. Expect shared loot runs, coordinated boss attempts, and the usual chaos of a bullet-hell screen with several players firing at once.
Before you start
The tag list marks this as difficult, and the store text describes unforgiving boss fights, so a first session will involve dying and restarting. That is normal for the genre: gold, unlocks and permanent stats carry forward, and the procedural levels mean no two runs are laid out the same. Environments are destructible and hide secrets and easter eggs, so it pays to look around rather than rush. Full controller support is included, including Steam Controller. Expect a lot of weapons and systems to learn at your own pace — the glossary is there to explain what you have found.
