Swinging through a fallen world
Windlands 2 is a fantasy action adventure built for VR. You move with grappling hooks, swinging and parkouring through the ruins of a world that has already fallen, and you carry a bow alongside the hooks for the big fights. The goal is to take down gigantic titans and stop an ancient danger. The story is fully voiced, with NPCs and world events that trigger as you travel, so there is a narrative thread pulling you across the map rather than just open wandering.
The world is split into a variety of expansive areas that reward going off the obvious path. Exploring pays off directly: collectables, Easter Eggs and Achievements are tucked away, and completing them unlocks new hooks as rewards. If you like chasing extra goals after the main journey, there are skill-based Speed Run Races and collection challenges with Leaderboards, plus advanced modes like "no hooks", "one life" and "hook anything" that change how the movement plays.
Playing with friends
Windlands 2 works as a single player game or as online co-op for up to four players. The whole campaign is available with friends, including the titan battles, where the bow comes into its own alongside the hooks. Everyone swings through the same ruins and takes on the same gigantic enemies together, so the co-op is about shared traversal and shared fights rather than a separate mode.
Because the locomotion is hook-based, moving as a group means each player reads the space and picks their own line through it. The world events and voiced storyline carry over, so a group following the journey together still gets the same narrative beats.
Before you start
This is a built-for-VR title, so expect swinging, climbing and aiming a bow to be physical and to reward practice with the hooks. The parkour platforming is central rather than optional, and the advanced modes are there for when the standard run starts to feel comfortable. If your group likes exploring for hidden things, the collectables and achievement hooks give you reasons to sweep areas you already passed through.
