A fast co-op roguelite from the Dead Cells team

Windblown is a top-down action roguelite where you dash, dive and strike through a shattered world at very high speed. You play as a Leaper fighting the Vortex, an all-consuming threat that is ending your world. Combat is built around momentum: chain dashes, strikes, abilities and power moves together to overwhelm enemies before they overwhelm you. The game is in Early Access, so content will keep changing as it moves toward version 1.0.

Runs take you across ever-changing islands filled with enemies, challenges and bosses. The world is split into 6 distinct biomes, each with its own enemies and bosses. When a run ends, you take the materials you recovered back to the Ark, a hub where you can spend them on new weapons, powers and upgrades. Death is part of the loop, and every failed run still moves your overall progress forward.

Playing together with your group

Windblown supports 1 to 3 players in online co-op PvE. You and up to 2 friends can take on the Vortex together, coordinating builds, hunting for upgrade materials and taking down bosses as a team. The game has no gating, so everyone can contribute regardless of how they like to play. Between runs you can all return to the Ark to rest, spend materials and plan your next attempt.

Building your loadout

The build system is deep and rewards experimentation. You can dual wield to combine two unique weapon movesets, then layer on trinkets, passive upgrades, hexes and Alterattacks to shape your playstyle. The pool includes over 170 unlockables: 25+ weapons, 20 trinkets, 105 passive upgrades, 20 hexes, 3 magifish, plus the various Alterattack combinations. Weapons range from fast melee options to heavy hitters like the Crocojaw, alongside ranged tools, status effects and mobility skills. Weapon skins let you customise how your gear looks as well.

What to know before starting

This is a difficult game tagged as Souls-like and Fast-Paced, so expect to die and retry. The core loop is: run, die, bank resources at the Ark, unlock more options, and come back stronger. Metroprogression ensures each attempt leaves you better equipped than the last, so there is no penalty for experimenting with unfamiliar loadouts. Learn enemy patterns, try something new, and push further each time.
