What Whimsical Artefacts is about

Whimsical Artefacts is a first-person co-op scavenger game set inside liminal bunkers. You and your friends move through rooms, grab artefacts you find, and try to work out what each one actually does. Some artefacts help you, some hurt you, and some change the way you hear and speak to each other. The deeper you go, the more dangerous the rooms become: traps show up more often and the artefacts you find get more lethal. Runs have a roguelike shape to them, and the bunkers are procedurally generated, so the layout and what you find shift from session to session.

Playing it together

This is built around online co-op with proximity voice chat, so talking is part of the gameplay. Sound-altering artefacts mess with that voice chat, which is where a lot of the chaos comes from. Between you, you decide which artefacts to keep, which to identify, and which to sacrifice to push further down into the bunkers. Artefacts picked up from a friend's remains can still be useful to whoever collects them, so what you leave behind matters to the group.

Drawing as your identity and your notes

Customization runs on drawing. You draw your own face, accessories, and even your own cursor, so everyone in the group is recognizable by what they made rather than by a preset. The same drawing system doubles as your notebook: you sketch a picture of an artefact to remember what it does instead of relying on a written description. You can also draw misleading pictures, which sends friends into situations they did not plan for. Expect a colorful, cartoony, stylized look rather than realism, with a surreal and psychological horror edge to the bunkers themselves.

Before you start

It is free to play and tagged PvE, so the threats come from the environment and the artefacts rather than from other players. The tone mixes casual, playful scavenging with horror elements, and the difficulty ramps as you descend. Bring friends who enjoy figuring things out together, drawing freely, and laughing when an artefact turns on the group.
