A Cursed Board Game in a Dark House
Invokyr is a co-op survival horror game built around a 1970s board game sitting on a table in an abandoned house. The house groans around you, cold and dark, while a whimsical yet bitter voice invites you to play. The Gamemaster, once a beloved toy, now rules this place. Escape is possible, but only if you play the game. You roll the dice, and another worldly sound echoes through the house. Every roll summons something new: terrors, traps, and curses appear unpredictably. The goal is to reach the end and beat the Gamemaster to win your freedom, though nothing is guaranteed.
Playing Together Online
Invokyr supports online co-op with up to 6 players. You work together to survive the horrors that are summoned, or you can choose to leave someone behind. Death is not always the end, so the group has room to recover from mistakes. Scour the house to recover the dice hidden within, since each die can only be used once. Choose wisely when to spend them. Some dice offer special powers to heal, hide, or hinder the things hunting you, but nothing comes without risk. The house is a labyrinth of rooms, so staying together helps the group avoid losing the way back to the board.
What to Know Before Starting
The house contains different biomes, including a jungle, an ice mountain, and an oversized toy chest. Each area brings its own layout to navigate. Bizarre, unique creatures hunt you, and each one has its own way of doing so. Traps, curses, and chaos await every turn, so expect the situation to shift each time the dice are rolled. Surviving earns rewards and unlocks more formidable challenges. Invokyr is in Early Access, so the game is still being developed.
