A pet living on your desktop
VPet-Simulator puts a small animated pet on your computer desktop. It is a completely free and open source desktop pet program with a lot of interactions and animations. The pet can be touched on the head and body, dance, climb the wall, and perform more than 200 types of animation in total. Feeding interactions are part of the core loop, and the pet is meant to keep you company while you do other things on the computer. The game is the desktop pet found inside VUP Simulator, but it runs as its own separate program.
Playing together with your group
The Steam features list Online Co-op, so you and your friends can play it together. Beyond that, the shared part of the experience comes through the Steam Workshop. You can make animations or interactions for your pet and other characters, then upload them to the workshop so everyone in your group can use them. The workshop accepts new table pet animations, items, food and beverages, pet work, speech text, themes, code plugins for adding content, new animation logic and display schemes such as l2d or spin, and new features like an alarm clock or dashboard. Your group can trade creations back and forth and build a shared set of pets and behaviors.
Before you start
The project is open source on github, and you can modify the code to make your own desktop pet, though most content can be added through the workshop without touching code. Ideas and contributions are welcome through the repository. The game is free and its main purpose is to promote VUP Simulator. If you want suggestions or comments, the developer takes them through Steam store Comments and Community, Github Issue, or email.
