What DAEMON X MACHINA is
DAEMON X MACHINA is a third-person mech action game set after the Moonfall calamity. You play as an Outer, a new kind of human, working as a mercenary for the Orbital organization. Your job is to fight the Immortals, corrupted AIs that turned on their creators, and the giant Colossal Immortals that lead them. Missions send you into fast, airborne combat where you fly across the battlefield and trade fire with corrupted machines at close and long range. Between missions you salvage parts and weapons from defeated enemies, then bolt them onto your mech to change how it handles and fights. Your avatar is customizable too, and you can take body modifications to learn new skills, though that costs you your human appearance.
Playing it with your group
The game has online Co-op Mode, where you and other players team up to take down bosses. There are also Exploration Missions you can run together, which map out Immortal bases and unlock powerful gear, so a group can work through the same mission and come away with upgrades for everyone. If your group would rather fight each other, Versus Mode puts players in 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2 matches with leaderboard rankings to climb. That gives a session two clear directions: cooperate on bosses and exploration, or split into teams and settle it in the arena.
Before you start
Expect a lot of build tinkering. Weapons and parts are the core of how your Arsenal plays, and since you can swap salvage on the fly mid-mission, part of the fun is reacting to what you pick up rather than fixing a loadout beforehand. Body modifications trade your look for skills, so decide early how much of your avatar you want to keep. The story also warns that allies in a mercenary war can turn into enemies, so don't assume every player you meet is on your side for long. Combat is high-speed and aerial, which rewards players who are comfortable managing movement, aim, and equipment changes at the same time.
