What Two Strikes is

Two Strikes is a 2D fighting game set in Japan during 1568, as Oda Nobunaga's troops march on Kyoto and the Sengoku Period begins. Samurai, warrior monks, outlaws and peasants are caught up in the violence, and the Shinigami, the God of Death, gathers those who died still wishing to keep killing into a Tournament. The winner gets one last chance to return to earth. You pick from 8 unique warriors, each with their own combat flair, and fight duels where a single strike can end the round. The whole thing is drawn by hand, with animations that carry the weight of every blade.

How a group plays it together

Two Strikes supports Online PvP, so friends can duel each other over the internet. It also has Remote Play Together, which lets someone stream the game to a friend so they can join in on the same session. Local Multiplayer is listed as a tag, so playing on one screen is part of the picture as well. Either way, the format is straightforward: two fighters, one arena, no teammates to lean on. Someone wins, someone dies, and you run it back.

What to know before starting

Positioning matters more than button mashing. You move in to get within your weapon's reach or dart back to evade an assault, and you strike when the opening is there. Attacks are committal: predictable moves get punished easily, so mixing up your timing keeps opponents guessing. Dashes can be used to feint, hiding what you actually intend to do. The game is tagged Casual alongside its fighting labels, so it is built to be picked up quickly, but the duels stay tense because everything resolves fast. Expect a dark fantasy tone, stylized and atmospheric, with a cinematic feel rather than a deep systems-heavy fighter.
