What Tumblestone is

Tumblestone is an action-puzzle game built around matching blocks under pressure. You clear a board by making matches, and the faster and smarter you work, the better you do. It plays like a puzzle game but moves like a competitive one, so rounds stay tense even when you're just trying to keep up. The store description calls it a deep and cerebral puzzle-solving experience, and that shows in how the puzzles get progressively more difficult and creative as you go.

Beyond the competitive side, there's a story campaign of 40+ hours that tests your puzzle-solving skills. It includes 10+ gameplay modifiers, challenge puzzles, and boss battles, and along the way you help a sausage make friends and find out what happened to the Tumblecrown. There are also hundreds of unique quests to work through and stats that let you rank up and compare yourself against your friends.

Playing together

Tumblestone is built for groups. Local multiplayer supports up to four players on a single computer, so one screen is enough to get everyone playing. Online multiplayer lets you face your friends directly or get matched with others through the ranked matchmaking system. If a slot is open, bots fill it, including the Nightmare bot, which the store text describes as punishing.

There's also Remote Play Together, which lets people join in over the internet from their own setup. Between rounds you can pick from a dozen unique characters and environments, and leaderboards are there when you want to see who comes out on top.

Modes and things to know before starting

Arcade modes cover different moods: Marathon is the casual, relaxed option, Infinipuzzle is the more intellectual one, and Heartbeat is fast-paced. Story mode is the long single-player path if you'd rather play alone.

The game spans several genres at once — action, casual, strategy, and puzzle — so expect quick decision-making rather than slow, deliberate matching. It's tagged as family friendly and cartoon-style, but the difficulty curve still climbs, and the modifiers in story mode change how puzzles behave. Worth knowing before you start: the tags include both competitive and co-op play, so groups can either race each other or work through content side by side.
