What Flipon is
Flipon is an arcade puzzle game built around flipoblocks: you line them up to make combos, mine them out of the board and clear the level's goal. The campaign follows Kat and her crew of flipoblock miners across the Flipon solar system, with 75+ levels spread over more than 5 planets. Each planet is owned by a guardian, and each level brings a different setup, so the boards keep changing as you move along. The levels mix five game modes: objectives, survival, boss fights, puzzles and challenges. Along the way you get 6 different powers to use in fights, and timing them well matters as much as the matches themselves.
Playing together
VERSUS mode is where the group play happens: local multiplayer fights for up to 4 players. Everyone works the same kind of flipoblock board, and the aim is to come out on top against the others rather than to finish a level together. Split screen and local multiplayer are supported, so a group sitting around one setup can jump straight in. Remote Play Together is also listed as a Steam feature, which means people who are not in the same room can join a session that way. Controller support is noted, which is worth knowing if you plan to pass pads around for the versus rounds.
Modes beyond the campaign
Two other modes sit alongside the story and versus play. SCORE ATTACK is an infinite scoring mode with online leaderboards, aimed at chasing a better run rather than clearing a level. CHALLENGE uses a procedural puzzle generator, so the board you get is not a fixed level from the campaign — good for a quick session where nobody wants to repeat something they have already solved.
Before you start
The campaign is linear and single-player in structure, so if your group is mainly after a shared game, head for VERSUS first and treat the story as something to play through on your own time. Expect a colorful, cute presentation with a female protagonist and a light, funny tone — the bad guys are cute too. Difficulty comes from the level objectives and the guardians rather than from anything dark or heavy.
