Two puzzle games in one match

Puyo Puyo™Tetris® puts Tetris® and SEGA’s Puyo Puyo™ side by side, so the same group can play the rules they already know or learn the other game. You can fight head-to-head in either Puyo Puyo or Tetris, or mix both on one board in Fusion, where Puyos and Tetriminos land together and you have to plan for both. Swap switches your board between the two games at set intervals, so you need to keep up when the rules change mid-match. Big Bang is a race through special challenge boards, and Party adds items that can help you or trip up your opponents.

Playing together

Multiplayer Arcade supports up to four local players, which is the easiest way to get a group around one screen. Online play covers the same multiplayer modes with up to four players, split into Puzzle League, where rating, ranks and leagues are tracked, and Free Play, where records are not kept and you can set custom match rules and invite friends. Replays can be saved and uploaded, or searched by tags and filters, so a good match does not disappear after it ends. Remote Play Together is available for sharing the game over a connection.

Before you start

Adventure is the single-player path: ten acts, each with ten stages, with characters from both universes and a different challenge on each stage. It also unlocks characters and backgrounds, while the in-game Shop unlocks voice options, Puyo and Tetrimino skins, backgrounds and more. Solo Arcade lets you fill a multiplayer mode with 1-3 CPU opponents in Battle, run an Endurance gauntlet against a stream of CPU opponents, or take on Challenges such as Sprint, Marathon and Tiny Puyo, which shrinks Puyos so more fit on the board. The game offers the original Japanese voiceovers with localized subtitles as an option. Expect a competitive puzzle game with a lot of modes to sort through before you settle on the one your group likes.
