What Tower Tag is

Tower Tag is a VR arena shooter built around a grappling hook. You swing from tower to tower instead of walking with a stick, and the game is designed so that this movement feels natural from the first minute. The setting is a dark cyberpunk arena, and the shooting is closer to futuristic paintball than to a military shooter. Because you move by hooking onto structures, you keep your orientation while travelling fast, which is how the game avoids the motion sickness that puts many people off VR movement.

How a group plays it together

Tower Tag supports online co-op and online PvP, with Quick Match and Custom Matches for finding games. Match sizes run from 1v1 duels up through 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4, so a group of friends can queue together and take on another squad. Three game modes cover different moods: Deathmatch in free-for-all or team versus team, Elimination as last-player-standing survival, and Goal Tower, which is about area control and capturing objectives.

Playing as a squad leans on positioning more than raw aim. Capturing towers gives your team cover and opens new movement routes through the arena, so coordinated flanks and lures matter as much as reflexes. If nobody is online, adaptive AI bots fill the lobby for practice sessions, and ranked play with global leaderboards is there when the group wants something to climb.

Before you start

This is a VR game with Early Access status, so expect it to still be in development. The controls are deliberately simple and rely on your real body: you duck behind towers, lean out to shoot and dodge incoming lasers with your own movement. It is built to work in smaller play spaces, described as Small Room Scale, with safe and free movement even in tight rooms, but you should still have room to duck and lean without hitting anything.

bHaptics vests are supported if you own one, so hits register as physical feedback. The game also has an official Discord community where players arrange matches, join tournaments and talk to the developers about feedback, roadmap and support.
