A frog in a flooded forest

They Breathe follows a lone frog descending into a forest that has filled with water. The frog does not yet know how bad its situation is. As you swim deeper, you have to work out how this ecosystem actually works. Oxygen is the resource everything wants, and nothing is quite what it first appears to be. The game runs about thirty minutes and tells its story entirely through gameplay, with no dialogue at any point. It is a short, hand-drawn 2D descent built around survival, exploration, and a growing sense that the forest is hiding something.

Playing it together

Remote Play Together is supported, so one person can own the game and others can join in from their own devices. The game is built as a singleplayer experience, so expect a shared session rather than a competitive or co-op mode with separate roles. One player drives the frog while the group watches, reacts, and talks through what the forest is doing. It works well as a short group watch where everyone tries to spot patterns before the next surprise arrives.

What to know before starting

There is no hand-holding here. The game does not explain its rules, so you learn by swimming, watching, and getting things wrong. Expect a surreal, atmospheric tone with dark and Lovecraftian undertones, plus sudden creatures that show up as you go deeper. The horror is psychological rather than graphic, and the whole thing is deliberately short, so a single sitting covers the full descent. Go in ready to pay attention to what the environment is telling you, and keep in mind that the story only makes sense once you have seen enough of it.
